Getting ready for the National Exam.  If you missed our class here are you notes.

Last class we learned:

Direct object pronouns

In Spanish Direct object pronouns are used to refer to someone or something that receives the action of the verb. These pronouns must agree with the nouns they stand for .  For third person objects we have the following pronouns:

Singular       Masc             Fem

                     lo him,it          la  her,it

Plural           los  them         las them

Direct object pronouns usually go before the conjugated verb.

Possessive adjectives indicate who owns or is in possession of something.  Only the short form is covered at this time.  Possessive adjectives vary by number and gender.

Key note*  The change is with the nouns they modify. (not the person/people who possess the object.

ex. Notice the object is singular

1.  Es nuestro coche.  It is our car.

2.  Es nuestra casa.  It is our house.

Ex.  Notice that the objects are plural

1.  Son nuestros coches.  They are our cars.

2.  Son nuestras casas.  They are our houses.

Nouns are either feminine or masculine, whether they refer to a person , place, thing or quality and are usually followed by an article.

1. Some nouns ending in -ma which refer jto non-concrete things are masculine:  el clima (climate) el idioma (language)

2. Adjectives must agree in gender and number wit the nouns they modify

Adjectives are made plural the same way as nouns.

Key grammar:

Plural:

 If the noun ends in:

1.  a vowel, add -s: libro/libros

2.  A consonant, add -es: pared/paredes

3.  -z, change it to a -c and add -es: lápiz/lápices

There is no ' in Spanish.

Class 8B tasted their way through the food test.  That is right we made fruit salad on a stick, named the fruit we ate and enjoyed testing all at the same time. The only down side, the students want to test this way all the time!  We sure had a good time and everyone agreed keeping all our senses working sight, smell, touch and hearing the foods called out as we ate them is the way to go!

All activities for practice on listed at Quia.com  you will need your password to log on.
