We are working on the words from 13C
We will have a test over these words found at the bottom of page 13C
We will also test the meaning of
Querer to want
tener to have
tener que to have to
As we continue to discover new verbs and conjugations, we are also taking a bit of time to read familiar stories in Spanish.
Grammar: Verbs have a stem and an infinitive. We are learning that the er,ir,and ar present tense verbs follow a regular pattern. We have used the "boot" to help us breakdown the conjugation forms of each verb.
Voting has begun! Here is the link to the website, everyone can vote from their own personal or home computer for our school kids. Tell them to vote for the Middle school category and the video called Podcast Languages – Lack of Communication
We had a blast with the PODCAST videos! Creating them was crazy fun! The kids loved being creative and the acting was superb! I will post the website as soon as the voting begins online on January 15.
The contest is for students who take a second language. The theme was: "Discover Languages, Discover the World!"
Next we will lreturn to our book and work on completing the final Chapters!
Vocab test will be next week over Page 13A in Sing and Speak book just the vocabulary at bottom.
Students have finished the Don Quijote skits and now they are working on the Podcast contest skits
Students have learned the veb IR to go
They have also learned how to conjugatethe verb and use it in this format:
IR+a+infinitive
to go to __________
This week we are reading and translating an online strory of the 3 pigs.
Group B- A- Homework complete the story translations on page 9D. Give a general idea of what is going on in the story. Due your next class.
Students continue to work hard to learn the concept of conjugation of verbs. We are now learning the 3 groups of verbs that have infinitive endings:
AR -IR -ER
These verbs have a stem at the begining. We have learned how to drop the infinitive and match the ending by using the subject of the action to conjugate the verb correctly.
After the tener test,
students will learn to tell time in spanish. After that students will watch a quack video on telling time in Spanish.
We are ready to learn more Spanish this year! Students from day one are busy reviewing old words and phrases. Once we finish our SING AND SPEAK books we will move on to our new textbooks!
This year I have 3 different groups:
A
B
C
with that said, please understand that not all classes will be testing at the same time. Depending on schedule changes, one class may be a ahead or behind the others. Look on the right hand side for your child's class testing dates.
We are working on TENER- to have
Both tener (to have) and venir (to come) differ from regular-er and -ir verbs in several ways.
Though the stem is regular for the first person yo, the conjugation is irregular, changing o to go. Many fo the most common verbs in Spanish have this irregular first person conjugation.
I presented this concept this year but will cover it again for testing next fall.
