Dear Parents & Students,

            Let me introduce myself, my name is Simon McKenzie.  I am the new Physical Education teacher at St. Patrick’s.  I come from Hastings College where I received my degree in K-12 Physical Education and currently live in Lincoln.  After working with your children the first couple days of school I’m convinced that St. Patrick’s is the perfect fit for my self and my teaching philosophy.  The students’ eagerness to get started with class quickly and learn is tremendous.  It makes it very joyful to come to work everyday. 

            At this time I am currently doing much evaluating of the skills and abilities but most importantly their desire or willingness to learn and participate.  We have started the year by practicing basic motor skills for example throwing and catching.  This works well with the lower grades.  For the upper grades I’m currently assessing knowledge of sport and rules  I am coming to this school knowing that not all children are physically gifted but know they still enjoy physical activity as much as others.  My goal is to get all the children interested and involved to promote an active and healthy life style.  This is going to be a fun year and I hope the kids are having as much fun as I am so far.
