The first week of music class was a good one. We spent the week dusting off all of the cobwebs from our summer break. Students had a chance to begin singing again as well as to start remembering some of the musical vocabulary we will be using.
Being new to St. Patrick’s, each section spent their first music class getting acquainted with me and I with them. We shared memories of our summer and our favorite musical tastes.
Up ahead, this first full week of school will be spent determining where each class and grade level is in terms of musical knowledge and ability. In the next couple of weeks, the K-2 grade will continue to work on developing a working musical vocabulary, reading of rhythms and singing.
The 3rd, 4th and 5th grades will soon begin preparing for their program on the 30th of October and the 6th, 7th and 8th grades will continue with their study of music appreciation as well as with preparation for the beginning of show choir and chime choir. It looks as if those will be taking off the second week of September. We’ll see you soon!
