Third Grade Weekly News
September 7-September 10th
*No school Monday*
Reading- Students will read The Lost and Found. We will practice sequencing events this week. The vocabulary words are: directions, rumpled, situations, unusual, visible, and worried.
Grammar- Students will learn the difference between subjects and predicates in sentences.
Students will also complete daily language reviews practicing capitalization, punctuation mark, spelling, analogies, and synonyms and antonyms.
Spelling- Vowel-consonant- E words when the consonant is R
*The group choice this week is September.
Students who pass their pretest on Monday with a 90% or above will receive a separate list of words to complete with the review words and paragraph. The 20 words and paragraph will be tested on Friday.
Cursive- Students will learn letters ‘p’ and ‘e’
Math- Students will begin Chapter 2 this week. We will cover:
Comparing, ordering, and rounding two and three digit numbers.
Religion- Chapter 3- “Light of the World”
Students will recognize that the world created by God is good but bad things happen. Students will learn about original sin.
Social Studies- Students will complete our review over the geography of our world and community. This week we will focus on Nebraska and they will turn in their completed map packets.
Science- Students will complete the Ch. 1 study guide and play a Jeopardy game to review. The test will be on Wednesday, September 15th.
DWP- We will work on the four skills of discipline: Listening, Following Instructions, Reasons for Rules, and Resolving Problems.

*Uganda dress down day is this Friday, September 10th
* Please sign your child’s assignment notebook each night to help prepare them for the next day.
* Please make sure your child wears a belt with shorts or pants.
