Third Grade Weekly News
May 12th-May 16th
Language Arts- We will read “Do Animals Think?”. Students will review the following skills: making inferences, drawing conclusions, using multiple meaning words, and determining the author’s purpose. We will discuss adverbs. The students will also complete the end of the year assessment.
Spelling- The spelling words this week are: chalkboard, mall, unsalted, bald, talking, washer, strolled, lamb, crumb, smaller, walnut, waltzing, column, solemn, address, angel, listen, please, straight, and gallbladder.
Math-This week we will review concepts covered this year.
** Reminder: Multiplication facts and division facts 0-12 must be mastered by the end of the year. By the end of the year, we would like all students to complete 50 multiplication problems in 2 minutes with 95% accuracy and 40 division problems in 2 minutes with 95% accuracy.
Science-Students will review ways to keep their body healthy. Students will plan a healthy meal by using the guidelines of the Food Guide Pyramid.
Social Studies-This week we will discuss the history of transportation and communication in our country.
Religion- Students will use the Bible to look up popular verses.
Reminders:
· The spring program is tonight! Please have your child here between 6:00 and 6:15. Here is a reminder from Mrs. Rehn:
3rd grade parents: The 3rd grade students are singing several cowboy songs, so they can feel free to dress in western wear. They can wear nice, clean jeans as part of their costume, but please do not wear shorts. They can bring hats to compliment their outfits also.
· Summer school registration forms are due by Friday, May 15th!
· It is important to sign your child’s planner each night to help them stay organized.
· Students may wear their uniform shorts and sweaters are no longer required at school Masses. Encourage your child to follow all of the uniform guidelines.
