Third Grade Weekly News
March 8th-12th
Reading- Students will continue the novel units this week. Mrs. Peal’s class is reading Charlotte’s Web, Mrs. West’s class is reading Frindle and Mrs. Schultz’s Class is reading Because of Winn-Dixie. We will complete a variety of vocabulary and comprehension activities and will focus on various reading skills within each text. We will finish the novels this week.
Grammar- Students will discuss homophones, homonyms, prefixes, and suffixes. Students will complete daily language reviews focusing on capitalization, punctuation, analogies, and word relationships.
Writing- Students will continue their writing for the Young Authors program. This is an annual writing event that all students here at St. Pat’s will take part in.
Spelling- Week 23 Spelling List
Math- We will begin Chapter 14 this week.
This chapter covers metric measurements. We will complete lessons 14.1-14.4 this week.
Science – Students will continue to learn about simple machines and how they help people do work.
Social Studies - We will continue to discuss immigration in America. We will also talk about the statue of liberty this week.
Religion -Students will discuss the leaders of the Church including the Pope, pastor, and priests. We will also continue to discuss the Stations of the Cross.
