Special News:
  • As of October 1st the kiddos will no longer be able to wear shorts. Also, we will start wearing our sweaters to church every Tuesday and Thursday. 
  • Look for a letter coming home on Wednesday from the Religious Formationoffice regarding timesof upcoming Reconciliation retreats.
  • Health Screenings will take place on October 6th and 7th. If you have any questions regarding this, please see the Principal Notes.
  • FALL PARENT / TEACHER CONFERENCES – Below you will find how the various grade levels are implementing parent/teacher conferences. Fall conferences will be held on two different days for kindergarten through 8th grades.
  • Tuesday, October 26th from 4:30-6:00pm; 6:30-8:00pm
  • Thursday, October 28th from noon to 5:00pm; 6:00-8:00pm 
These fall conferences are required. This is a great time to receive feedback and ask questions of teachers on how your child is performing in school. Report cards will be given to parents at that time. Please see that at least one parent/guardian attends for each child. Sign-up sheets for appointments in PreS through 6th grade will be posted in the front entrance area beginning Thursday, October 7th.  Appointments need to be made by October 22nd. If you feel you need more than the allotted time, please email the teacher to make other arrangements. The Specials teachers for Art, Music, PE, & Spanish will be located in their classrooms and it is not necessary to make an appointment to see them.

·       Use tally marks to compare data
·       Read, interpret and make pictographs and bar graphs; read line graphs and Venn diagram

Reading :  
Story: Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night
Writing: How to write a paragraph
Grammar: Telling Sentences, Question Sentences
Vocabulary: Compound Words
Comprehension Skill: Compare and Contrast
*On Wednesday your child will bring home their Reading book. They will need to read the stories Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night   to an adult or an older sibling. Please review the vocabulary words with your child and have them return their signed reading slip on Friday.
 
 
Spelling:  Review skills
* Spelling packets will be handed out on Monday. Your child will need to complete the pages as they study and return them on Friday. The Spelling test will be given on Friday. Don’t forget to study the sentences.
 
Phonics (VoWac):  ways to spell the long “o”
 
Religion:  Chapter 1: We Belong (Reconciliation Book)
·       Recognizing the importance of belonging to a community and the church
·       Identifying the sacraments of Initiation
·       Celebrating our belonging to the church
 
Today your child has begun preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We ask that you help your child by;
·        . Studying the vocabulary flash cards with them. The cards will come home on Wednesday and the test will be on Friday. Vocabulary cards will be located in their Reconciliation Booklet. Please do not remove anything from this booklet.
·         On weekend, please take the time to reread the textbook chapter and complete the last two pages in the chapter with them.
·        . When they return to school after the weekend, your child Reconciliation book will be check for a parent's signature indicating you reread the chapter. The parent's signature paper is located in the Reconciliation book.
 
 
Science :   We are starting our chapter on Fossils.
Social Studies:  We are putting the finishing touches on our maps by showing how we can tell directions. These should be finished by Wednesday.
